darkroom > Ventanitas

This series began after traveling to Mexico twice, and comparing my photography from Mexico with my photography from the United States. It grew into an exploration into the cultural communication we lose when we accept the linguistic limitations between our two neighboring countries.

In these “little windows”, pairs of similar images, one from Mexico, the other from the United States, discuss the cultural and emotional ambivalence I see between the United States and Mexico. By pairing these analogous images, they suggest communication about familiarity and coincidence between two estranged places.
